The Ballad of GnomeThey called him a demon; they dubbed him the beast,  They spat as they mentioned his name,  Forced away from the light, he roamed into the night,  And walked many miles in the rain.   
He was hunted and wearied, assailed from all sides,  And travelled for days without rest,  He emerged from the wild still no more than a child,  But bearing deep scars from his quest.   
He was loathed, he was cursed, but his skin had grown thick,  And he walked with his head raised up high,  Chasing fortune and fame, facing peril and pain,  Steadfastly refusing to die.
